EVEREST BASE CAMP DIFFICULTIES AND PREPARATION GUIDE
Altitude
High-altitude sickness is always a main concern when hiking in the Himalayas. Different body has different mechanisms and react differently. So you might get some altitude-related symptoms after hiking 3,000m. Symptoms may not be dangerous, but sometimes, even normal symptoms like headaches cause a worse scenario.
How to Prepare: Proper Acclimatization is highly suggested while trekking to the Everest Base Camp. It helps your body to adapt to the surrounding environment and makes the trek relatively comfortable.
Drinking more water also helps you to make your body hydrate and avoid altitude sickness.
Always listen to your body and consult with your guide or trip organizer about your current condition. If you have altitude sickness and the symptoms are normal, please Descend! Descend! Descend! Before worsening the situation. Taking immediate helicopter evacuation is the only option for worse conditions.
Fitness
Normally, hikers have to walk 5-7 hours, depending on the route and destination. It might differ individually. The regular Everest Base Camp trek is moderately difficult, so people have to be physically and mentally fit for it.
How to Prepare: Regular exercise, morning walks, and hiking help you to maintain your body before taking the trip.
